• Mold has strong reproductive capacity and can reproduce through both asexual and sexual propagation. Long exposure to and inhalation of molds will induce respiratory diseases and allergy symptoms such as bronchitis, amygdalitis, pollinosis and asthma. People with low immunity may also suffer headache, fever, skin or mucous inflammation, carcinogenic substances, or diseases like mycotic pneumonia.
• Bacteria parasitize human tissue fluid or cells, stealing nutrition from the human body. The metabolites, such as the waste generated from bacteria metabolism, will be directly let off into human body, resulting in heavier burden on metabolic system, or interference of normal biochemical reaction at worse. The toxic metabolites (mostly inorganic chemicals and few protein, lipid or nucleic acid) may interfere normal human functions through directly interfering reactions or affecting the enzyme activity, inducing stress reactions like fever and pain, then resulting in series of problems due to change of body temperature. Some parasite bacteria are not only tough enough to be antibiotic-resistant, but also hard to be killed as they hide in cells. The most common bacteria in home environment are Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and colibacillus (0157).

    Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is a type of nucleotide storing and transferring chemical energy within cells, acting as the “molecular currency”. ATP exists in all living creatures (including microbes) and is very stable in amount. So it’s a perfect index to indicate whether a surface is clean.

    By detecting the ATP value in the samples, the amount of germs and the level of cleanliness on the surfaces could be indirectly shown. For locations with high hygiene requirement, such as home, schools and kindergartens, Hygiena ATP can quickly (in only a few minutes) confirm if the surfaces are clean and if any germs still exist (such as bacteria or molds). On the contrary, conventional bacterial culture tests would take a few days to finish.
